Raiders & OL Kelechi Osemele Agree On Five-Year, $58.5 million Deal

Rand Getlin of NFL Media reports that the Raiders and OL Kelechi Osemele have reached an agreement in principle.

  • Getlin reports that Osemele’s deal with the Raiders will pay him $11.7 million per year and has a max value of $12 million.
  • According to Getlin, the contract is a five-year deal worth a max value of $60 million.
  • Rapoport mentions that the Vikings and Jets were interested in Osemele, but the bidding got “too rich” for them.

The expectation has been that Osemele will end up being the highest paid guard in the NFL at $10 million per year in his next contract.

Previous reports had said that the Raiders were likely spend big on the players they like a lot and with offensive line being one area that they’re looking for spend, it makes sense to see them go hard after a guy like Osemele.

Osemele, 26, was taken in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Ravens. He played out his four-year, $3.34 million rookie contract and was set to be one of the best available offensive lineman in this year’s free agent class.

In 2015, Osemele has appeared in 14 games for the Ravens and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 18 offensive tackle out of 77 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
