The Oakland Raiders are trading WR Cordarrelle Patterson to the Patriots on Sunday, according to Pardon My Take

Few teams have been as active as the Raiders this offseason. New John Gruden continues to reshape the team’s roster to fit his scheme and it appears as though they felt it was best to move on from Patterson after just one year in Oakland.

The Patriots get a project receiver, who’s a very solid kick returner. It will be interesting to see what he can do with the opportunity.

Patterson, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2013. He played out his rookie contract with the Vikings, but they declined to pick up his fifth-year option, which allowed him to sign a free agent deal with the Raiders last year.

Patterson is in the second year of his two-year, $8.5 million contract and set to make a base salary of $3 million for the 2018 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Patterson will free up $3.25 million of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2017, Patterson appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders and caught 31 passes for 309 yards receiving to go along with 121 yards rushing and two touchdowns. He also contributed 538 kick return yards last year. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 63 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.
