There was talk that Dumervil could be a cap casualty for the Ravens, considering that they have a number of notable free agents and limited cap space to work with this year.

Dumervil, 33, was entering the final year of his five-year, $26 million contract that included $8.5 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $5 million for the 2017 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Dumervil will free up $6 million of available cap space while creating $2.375 million in dead money.

Unfortunately, Dumervil’s 2016 season was limited to just eight games, as he spent half of the year on the PUP list.

In 2016, Dumervil appeared in eight games for the Ravens and recorded 11 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.
