Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Vikings are finalizing a four-year extension with DE Everson Griffen.

Griffen is among the games best defensive linemen and it appears as though the Vikings wanted to reward him for his production and get him under contract through the 2022 season.

Griffen, 29, is a former fourth-round pick of the Vikings back in 2010. Griffen was entering the fourth year of his five-year, $42.5 million contract that included $19.8 million guaranteed and set to make base salaries of $6.9 million and $8.4 million over the next two years.

In 2016, Griffen appeared in 15 games for the Vikings and recorded 44 tackles, 10.5 sacks, a forced fumble and four pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 23 edge rusher out of 106 qualifying players.
