A day after the Favre retirement rumors, a number of news reports are suggesting that Brett has yet to make up his mind regarding joining the Vikings this season. ESPN’s Ed Werder reported that Favre is planning on playing this year as long as he is healthy enough to do so, and that he denies sending text messages indicating he would retire.
NFL.com is also reporting that Steve Mariucci has spoken with Favre and he said that he has still yet to make up his mind regarding this season and isn’t sure where the rumors came from.
The Favre retirement rumor is shaping up like a false alarm as of right now but the only thing for certain is that this will take another month to sort out.
Yesterday, Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reportsed that Brett Favre told some Vikings players that he played on retiring this season. “Favre told a couple of guys on the team that he was going to retire.” Shiancoe said Tuesday. “He hasn’t told me yet.” That is according to Vikings Tight end Visanthe Shiancoe.
Another year, another Brett Favre retirement rumor. Tis the season I guess but the impact of Favres retirement would change the balance of power within the NFC, especially in the NFC North. Will the Vikings feel comfortable with Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels behind center? I am sure that there will be plenty more on this situation in the coming weeks.
