Brian Hartline Pricing Himself Out Of Miami?

According to Armando Salguero of the Miami HeraldDolphins WR Brian Hartline is likely targeting a similar deal to the one (five-years, $32.5 million) WR Laurent Robinson signed with the Jaguars last season.

Hartline reportedly came away “irritated” after an earlier meeting with the Dolphins, as they were clearly starting low in regards to negotiating a new contract.

Salguero writes that there was a time when the Dolphins could have locked up Hartline to a similar deal as the one (four years, $13.98 million that includes $5 million guaranteed) the Packers handed out to Jordy Nelson last year, but it’s too late for that now.

Even if the Dolphins aren’t comfortable paying Hartline as much $6.5 million annually, he stands a reasonable chance of securing that kind of money on the open market. There’s no question that the Dolphins will have to find better talent at receiver to surround Ryan Tannehill with and they appear to be prepared to make a run at players like Dwayne Bowe, Mike Wallace and/or Greg Jennings next month. If they’re going to spend money on a receiver, it may as well as be someone that will have a big impact on their offensive production in the years to come.

We have Hartline listed as the No. 49 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
