Brock Osweiler Re-Signing With Broncos “Far From A Certainty”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that while it’s still a possibility that QB Brock Osweiler re-signing with the Broncos in the coming weeks, it’s “far from a certainty” at this point in time.

  • Schefter mentions that other quarterback-needy teams will make this difficult on Denver.
  • Ian Rapoport reports that the Broncos have an offer on the table for Osweiler and negotiations will now ramp up in the coming days.

Last night, Mike Klis of 9News reported that the Broncos have offered Osweiler a three-year contract worth more than $45 million and includes incentives. However, it remains to be seen how much of this deal is fully guaranteed.

With Peyton Manning retiring, it’s clear that Osweiler will have some leverage with the Broncos, even though he’s played in a limited number of games.

Another issue is that other teams around the league have a ton of cap space to work with, so if top dollar is a big consideration for Osweiler, the Broncos may have a difficult time being competitive and addressing other roster needs.

This figures to be one of the more interesting situations to watch in the coming days, as Osweiler is now the best available quarterbacks in this year’s free agent market.

Osweiler, 25, played out the final year of his four-year, $3.516 million rookie contract and will be an unrestricted free agent next week.

In 2015, Osweiler threw for 1,967 yards while completing 61.8 percent of his passes to go along with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions over the course of seven games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 20 quarterback out of 37 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
