Broncos Add $3M Of Incentives To CB Chris Harris’ Contract

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Broncos have added $3 million of incentives to CB Chris Harris‘ contract for the 2018 season. According to Yates, Harris can now earn up to $10.5 million for the 2018 season.

This is a nice gesture from the Broncos, as Harris is clearly underpaid by market value standards.

Last month, the Broncos have exercised their $1.1 million option on Harris Jr.’s contract for 2018 season, which was a no-brainer move for Denver, considering that they traded CB Aqib Talib to the Rams.

Harris, 28, wound up signing on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas back in 2011. He has played all seven years of his NFL career in Denver.

Harris is in the fourth year of his five-year, $42.5 million contract that included a $10 million signing bonus and stands to make base salaries of $7.4 million and $7.8 million over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Harris appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and recorded 40 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and seven pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.
