Broncos CB Tony Carter Could Be Available At The Trade Deadline

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Broncos CB Tony Carter could be among the players available for trade before Tuesday’s trade deadline.

  • Rapoport mentions that Carter is now the “odd-man out in Denver” and has reportedly generated interest from teams around the league.

Denver’s secondary is much improved this year with the addition of Aqib Talib and Chris Harris returning from a knee injury and playing at such a high level. The Broncos used their 2014 first-round pick on Bradley Roby, so they are clearly set at cornerback.

Carter, 28, is in the final year of his contract and will make a bas salary of $730,000 for the 2014 season. Next year, he’ll be a restricted free agent, so he could easily be retained at a reasonable cost.

So far this season, Carter has appeared in just three games for the Broncos and has recorded two tackles. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing only 88 snaps this year.
