Broncos RB Montee Ball Expected To Miss 2-3 Weeks

Update:

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that Broncos RB Montee Ball‘s groin injury will not require surgery and he’s expected to miss a couple weeks.

Broncos HC John Fox confirmed that Ball has a groin strain and said he could miss as many as three weeks, per Jeff Legwold.

Previous reports mentioned that Ball could have a “major groin injury,” but it appears as though the Broncos and Ball have dodged a bullet.

We’ll have more updates regarding Ball’s status moving forward as the news is available.

Ian Rapoport reports that the Denver Broncos are “bracing for a major groin injury” to RB Montee Ball.

Jeff Legwold of ESPN mentioned last night that there was some concern among Ball’s teammates and others in the organization that Ball could miss “significant time” due to the injury.

“My prayers are with Montee,’’ said Peyton Manning. “He just looked like he was in a lot of pain down there on the field, so I hope he’s OK.’

Ronnie Hillman, rookie Juwan Thompson and C.J. Anderson are expected to handle the workload while Ball is out, but Hillman could see the majority of carries in Week 6.

Over the course of four games, Ball has ran for 172 yards on 55 carries (3.1 YPC) and scored a single touchdown. He has also contributed nine receptions for 62 yards receiving.
