Update:

Josina Anderson, citing a Cowboys’ source, reports that there has been “no progress” in trade talks between Dallas and the Broncos regarding QB Mark Sanchez.

  • Anderson’s source added: “Checking out all options, and (Mark Sanchez) is one potentially. Everything has to make sense.

Jame Slater of NFL Network reports that the Broncos have contacted the Cowboys about a trade involving QB Mark Sanchez.

  • According to Slater, the Cowboys aren’t interested in trading for Sanchez unless it involves him reducing his salary.

Earlier in the day, Pro Football Talk reported that the Broncos were attempting to trade Sanchez now that they’ve announced Trevor Siemian as their starting quarterback.

PFT added that if there’s no trade to be made, the Broncos could release Sanchez either today or tomorrow.

The Broncos could also try to get him to take a pay cut to remain with the team.

Reports have said that the Cowboys will be in the market for a veteran quarterback at some point, so it makes sense that Denver would at least call them to see if there’s a deal to be made.

Sanchez, 29, is in the final year of his two-year, $9 million contract that includes $5.5 million guaranteed. He stands to make a base salary of $4.5 million for the 2016 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Sanchez would free up $4.5 million in available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2015, Sanchez appeared in four games for the Eagles and threw for 616 yards while completing 64.8 percent of his passes to go along with four touchdowns and four interceptions.
