Broncos Cut Kyle Orton, Bears Next Stop?

Jay Glazer tweets that his sources have indicted that the Bears and Chiefs figure to put claims in on him.

Kansas City would have a better shot at getting him considering that they;re much higher in waiver priority.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Denver Broncos have waived QB Kyle Orton.

The Broncos have made it clear that Orton will not be playing even if Tim Tebow gets hurt as Brady Quinn would be the next in line to man the quarterback position for the Broncos. Orton was set to make another $2.5 million for the remainder of the 2011 season so the move is certainly justifiable at this point.

What is interesting is that the Broncos refused to trade Orton to the Dolphins for anything less than a second-round pick which at this point would seem like an unbelievable price.

There are a number of teams that have lost their starting quarterback in recent weeks. Most interesting of which is the Chicago Bears who lost Jay Cutler after he broke his thumb last weekend. Many remember that Rex Grossman was the teams quarterback for the 2007 Super Bowl appearance but Orton actually led them to the playoffs, only to be replaced by Grossman. Things have changed in Chicago as the team is running a new offensive scheme but Orton is certainly an upgrade as a passing quarterback to Caleb Hanie.

Other teams that could have interest would include the Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins and the Houston Texans.
