Broncos DE Derek Wolfe Leaves Field In Ambulance, Being Evaluated For A Cervical Spine Injury

Broncos second-year DE Derek Wolfe was taken off the field in an ambulance during Saturday’s preseason game against the Seahawks.

  • Wolfe has reportedly passed a “battery of tests” including an MRI, X-rays, CT scan and all have come back negative. (Mike Klis)
  • HC John Fox mentioned that the “…CT scan was positive and right now we’re waiting on an MRI so, so far all the news is good.” (Broncos)
  • The Broncos announced that Wolfe is being evaluated for a cervical spine injury, but has movement in all of his extremities.

Wolfe has involved in a play where he was being blocked both high and low. Wolfe remained down on the field for several minutes while the Broncos’ training staff attended to him.

Wolfe played in 16 games for the Broncos’ defense last season. He offers much in terms of run-defense than as a pass-rusher. Denver’s defensive line unit isn’t exactly all that deep, despite using their first-round draft pick on Sylvester Williams this year.

We’ll have updates as the news is available.
