Broncos “Are In” On Potential Deal For Eagles QB Sam Bradford

An NFL source tell Mike Klis of 9News that the Broncos “are in” on Eagles QB Sam Bradford.

According to Klis, Broncos GM John Elway has spoken to Eagles executive VP Howie Roseman about Bradford. However, the Eagles haven’t shown much of a willingness to trade Bradford, despite his recent trade request.

Ian Rapoport reported earlier in the day that Denver had spoken to the Eagles about Bradford, but the talks were “very preliminary” and no compensation was discussed.

Rapoport added that Philadelphia still not inclined to trade Bardford at this point in time.

The Broncos are one of a few teams still in need of a quarterback, but it’s become clear that they’re unwilling to overpay for any of the available options including Ryan Fitzpatrick, Brian Hoyer or Colin Kaepernick in a trade. This may, however, change once the draft has passed.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported that Bradford informed the Eagles that he wants to be traded and has no plans to show up for their offseason program.

As of now, Philadelphia has yet to give Bradford and his agent permission to seek a trade, but it appears as though they’re at least willing to listen to potential offers for him.

During an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio, Tom Condon, the agent for Bradford, said that his client “wants to play somewhere where he’s going to stay for a long time if he plays well.

Condon added that Eagles’ players “would understand he’s a short-term guy even if he plays well” now that they plan to draft a quarterback at No. 2 overall, per Alex Marvez.

Sam wants to be the guy. He does not view himself as a stop-gap quarterback,” Condon added.

Bradford, 28, signed a two-year, $36 million contract that included $26 million guaranteed with the Eagles over a month ago. He stands to make base salaries of $7 million and $13 million over the next two years.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading would free up just $1.5 million in available cap space while creating a staggering $11 million in dead money.

In 2015, Bradford appeared in 14 games for the Eagles and threw for 3,725 yards while completing 65 percent of his passes to go along with 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

We’ll have more regarding a potential Bradford trade as the news is available.
