Broncos Officially Hire 49ers QBs Coach Rich Scangarello As Offensive Coordinator

Update:

Adam Schefter reports that the Broncos officially hired former 49ers QBs coach Rich Scangarello as their offensive coordinator.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Broncos are meeting with 49ers QBs coach Rich Scangarello for the second straight day on Wednesday and the expectation is that he’ll be hired as the team’s next offensive coordinator.

The 49ers initially rejected the Broncos’ request to speak with Scangarello, but San Francisco later agreed to allow him to meet with Denver regarding their vacancy.

Scangarello worked at Idaho as an offensive graduate assistant before beginning his coaching career at UC-Davis in 1998. He eventually worked his way up to co-offensive coordinator in 2008 before departing to be the Raiders’ offensive quality control coach in 2009.

Northern Arizona University hired Scangarello as their offensive coordinator/assistant HC in 2010 and he spent three seasons. The Falcons would later hire him as their offensive quality control coach and Scangarello followed Kyle Shanahan to the 49ers as the team’s QBs coach in 2017.
