Broncos Expected To Keep QB Paxton Lynch On Roster

Mike Klis reports that the Broncos plan to keep former first-round QB Paxton Lynch on their roster as their No. 3 quarterback.

However, Klis admits that the Broncos plan to look at the waiver wire for potential additions, so it’s still possible they could move on at some point if there’s someone available they really like.

Lynch lost the backup job to Chad Kelly this summer, which led to a lot of speculation that he could cut before today’s deadline.

Lynch, 24, was taken with the No. 26 overall pick after the Broncos traded up from No. 31 overall to get him in 2016 NFL Draft. Lynch signed a four-year, $9.4 million contract that includes $7.88 guaranteed and is set to make a base salary of $1.31 million this season.

The contract also includes a fifth-year option to pick up in 2019.

In 2017, Lynch appeared in two games for the Broncos and completed 66.7 percent of his passes to go along with two touchdowns and three interception. He also rushed for 30 yards.
