Broncos HC John Fox Could Be Out In Denver?

Update:

Multiple sources tell Mike Klis of the Denver Post that the Broncos have never discussed the idea of firing HC John Fox.

Klis points out that Fox received a three-year contract from the Broncos before the start of the 2014 season, so it’s not as though he didn’t have support within the organization close to a year ago.

After the game, Fox told reporters that he intends to be back with the Broncos next year.

I’ve seen all kind of reports in the past, I’m sure I’ll see some moving forward. I don’t make those decisions, I don’t control that,” Fox said. “My intentions are to be a Denver Bronco and have been since I got here.  It’s not about me; it’s about this football team.

However, Jason La Canfora, citing a number of people around the NFL, reports that friction exists between Fox and president/GM John Elway.

La Canfora wonders whether offensive coordinator Adam Gase could take over as the team’s head coach now that their season has come to an end.

Gase is a candidate for a number of head-coaching opportunities around the league, but it would still be surprising to see Denver move on from Fox and promote Gase to head coach next season.

According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports (via Mike Garafolo), “there is a thought” that Broncos HC John Fox could be available if they end up losing to the Colts later today.

Glazer added that if Fox ends up being available, he’s likely to shoot to the top of team’s head-coaching lists.

This is actually pretty surprising news given that the Broncos are 46 and 18 (71.9 percent) since Fox took the job back in 2011. Fox has led them a Super Bowl and won eight playoff games over the course of four years.

Of course, many will attribute the Broncos success to having Peyton Manning as their quarterback and the players brought in by president/GM John Elway.

Several teams in need of a head coach have shown interest in Broncos coordinator Adam Gase and Jack Del Rio, so it appears as though there is a chance that they could have an entirely new coaching staff.

We’ll have to see if anything changes in the coming days, but we’ll have more updates as the news is available.
