Broncos Hosting Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey For Visit Thursday

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is reporting that Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey is taking a pre-draft visit to Denver and meeting with the Broncos.

There has been buzz in recent days that McCaffrey could end up being drafted higher than many expect.

Peter Schrager has spoken to “multiple” NFL executives who believe McCaffrey will end up being drafted in the top 10 this year.

NFL opinions of McCaffrey have reportedly been mixed with some teams viewing him as a dynamic player who will have a big impact in the NFL while others see him as a just a change-of-pace back that could have more of a limited role.

Of the teams drafting in the top 10, the Panthers would make the most sense for McCaffrey, but they’ve also been tossed out as a potential landing spot for LSU’s Leonard Fournette.

McCaffrey figures to be a first-round pick with teams such as the Eagles, Redskins, Giants and Broncos worth watching among others.

McCaffrey, 20, is among the top running back prospects in what’s considered to be one of the deepest classes in years. He was a Heisman trophy candidate during his junior year at Staford.

During his college career at Stanford, McCaffrey rushed for 3,915 yards on 631 carries (6.2 YPC) to go along with 100 receptions for 1,213 yards receiving and 31 total touchdowns over the course of 37 games.

We have him being selected by the Eagles in the First Round of our 2017 NFL Mock Draft.
