Broncos Inquired About Browns LT Joe Thomas, Tried To Get Christian McCaffrey

Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the Broncos explored a potential trade for Browns LT Joe Thomas and even tried to move up to get Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey.

The Broncos ultimately held tight and drafted Utah OT Garrett Bolles at No. 20 overall.

Browns HC Hue Jackson said back in December that the team does not intend on trading Thomas, so it appears they have not changed their stance.

Thomas, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Browns back in 2007. He’s currently in the seventh year of his eight-year, $92 million contract that included $44 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $8.8 million over the course of the final two years of his deal.

In 2016, Thomas appeared in all 16 games for the Browns and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 5 offensive tackle out of 80 qualifying players.
