Broncos Likely To Place S Justin Simmons On Injured Reserve

According to Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post, Broncos S Justin Simmons is likely to placed on injured reserve at some point in the future with a sprained ankle that he suffered during the win over the Jets.

Simmons has done a pretty good job of filling in for T.J. Ward after the Broncos elected to cut Ward loose at the start of the season.

Simmons, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Broncos back in 2016. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $3.027 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $630,000 and $720,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Simmons has appeared in 13 games for the Broncos and recorded 69 tackles, one sack, two interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 34 safety out of 88 qualifying players.
