Broncos Likely To Start Brock Osweiler In Week 16

The Denver Broncos are likely to start Brock Osweiler at quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Redskins, according to Adam Schefter, which means Paxton Lynch will probably serve as the team’s backup.

The Broncos have said that they would still like to see Lynch get another start before the year is out, so we’ll have to see if they make the change next week.

Osweiler, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Broncos in 2012. He played out his rookie contract with the Broncos before signing a four-year, $72 million contract with the Texans that included $37 million guaranteed back in March of last year.

The Texans traded Osweiler and a 2018 second-round pick to the Browns in return for a 2017 fourth-round pick.

Cleveland had been attempting to trade Osweiler since they acquired him several months ago but the ultimately cut him loose coming out of the preseason after no deal surfaced. The Broncos signed him to a contract soon after.

In 2017, Osweiler has appeared in five games and completed 74 of 134 passing attempts (55.2 percent) for 895 yards to go along with five touchdowns and four interceptions. He also has 37 yards rushing and a touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 38 quarterback out of 39 qualifying players.
