Broncos Pick Up CB Chris Harris Jr’s 2018 Option

Mike Klis of 9News reports that the Broncos have exercised their $1.1 million option on CB Chris Harris Jr.’s contract for 2018 season.

This was a no-brainer move for the Broncos, especially considering that they’re currently in trade talks to move veteran CB Aqib Talib.

Harris, 28, wound up signing on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas back in 2011. He has played all seven years of his NFL career in Denver.

Harris is in the fourth year of his five-year, $42.5 million contract that included a $10 million signing bonus and stands to make base salaries of $7.4 million and $7.8 million over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Harris appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and recorded 40 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and seven pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.
