Broncos Place LB Danny Trevathan On Short-Term I.R.

Field Yates of ESPN is reporting that the Broncos have placed LB Danny Trevathan (knee) on injured reserve with the designation to return.

Trevathan recently told Josina Anderson that doctor’s had informed him that he was likely to miss “four to eight weeks,” so this seems like a logical move for the Broncos.

Trevathan led the Broncos in tackles last season with 129, en route to establishing himself as one of the better young linebackers in the league.

While Denver substantially invested in veteran free agents – most notably DE/LB DeMarcus Ware, CB Aqib Talib, and S T.J. Ward – losing a potential building block for a large chunk of the year will hurt.  Broncos fans should be relieved however, that his ACL and MCL were not damaged.
