Broncos Place OT Menelik Watson On IR, Sign OT Cyrus Kouandjio

Mike Klis of 9 News reports that the Broncos have placed OT Menelik Watson on injured reserve and signed OT Cyrus Kouandjio to a contract on Wednesday.

Watson, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Raiders back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $4.15 million rookie contract with the Raiders before signing a three-year, $18.375 million that included $5.5 million guaranteed with the Broncos during the offseason.

Watson stands to make base salaries of $1.5 million and $5.5 million over the first two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Watson appeared in seven games for the Broncos and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 69 offensive tackle out of 78 qualifying players.

Kouandjio, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Bills back in 2014. He was in the final year of his four-year, $4.808 million contract that included $2.825 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $1,025,748 for the 2017 season when the Bills waived him a few weeks after this year’s draft.

The Lions signed him to a contract this past July before cutting him loose coming out of the preseason.

In 2016, Kouandjio appeared in 12 games for the Bills.
