Broncos Place RB Montee Ball & S Quinton Carter On Season-Ending I.R.

The Denver Broncos have placed RB Montee Ball and S Quinton Carter season-ending injured reserve, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post.

According to Klis, the two open roster spots will go LB Danny Trevathan, who will be activated from the team’s short-term injured reserve list, and TE Dominique Jones, who signed off of the practice squad.

Jeff Legwold of ESPN mentioned on Friday that Trevathan was likely to be activated from injured reserve list in time for Sunday’s game against the Chargers.

Ball, 24, is in his second season in the NFL, but injuries limited him to appearing in just five games and rushing for 172 yards on 55 carries (3.1 YPC) and contributing another 62 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Klis mentions that Carter may have played his last game with the Broncos as he too dealt with injuries during his time in Denver.

Carter, 26, is in the final year of his four-year, $2.49 million rookie contract and will have made a base salary of $645,000 for the 2014 season. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent next March.

Carter’s year ends with him recording 21 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble and a pass defense over the course of 11 games.
