Dolphins Hosting RFA RB C.J. Anderson, Bears & Patriots Also Interested

Update:

Mike Klis of 9News reports that Broncos RFA RB C.J. Anderson wound up traveling to Miami to visit with the Dolphins after a multiple-team bidding war broke out last night.

According to Klis, Anderson was sitting at the San Francisco Airport from 3 p.m. mountain time until 11:30 p.m. until the Dolphins managed to secure the opportunity to meet with him.

Interestingly enough, Anderson was reportedly scheduled to fly to Chicago for a visit with John Fox and the Bears before the Dolphins called and managed to prevent this from happening.

Klis expects the Dolphins to sign him to an offer sheet on Thursday.

Dan Graziano of ESPN reports that Broncos restricted free agent RB C.J. Anderson is visiting the Dolphins on Thursday.

  • Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Bears and Patriots also want to bring in Anderson for a visit. PFT adds that an offer sheet is expected to come as some point today.

Last night, Mike Klis of 9News reported that Patriots, Dolphins, 49ers, and Bears are all engaged in negotiations with Anderson.

This level of interest is due in large part to the fact that the Broncos used just a low-round tender on Anderson in recent days.

Should a team sign Anderson to an offer sheet, the Broncos would have five days to match the offer, or they would lose him.

The low-round tender will cost the Broncos  $1,671,000 for the 2016 season and give them the right of first refusal on any contract offer they receive. However, if they elect to not match an offer sheet, Denver would not receive any compensation for him.

Anderson, 25, wound up signing on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of California back in 2013.

In 2015, Anderson ran for 720 yards on 152 carries (4.7 YPC) to go along with 25 receptions for 183 yards receiving and five total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 37 running back out of 69 qualifying players.
