Broncos Rumors: Peyton Manning, Tim Tebow, D.J. Williams

Peyton Manning

Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that Peyton Manning spent the night in Denver after meeting with the Broncos brass for six hours yesterday.

A team source told the Post that Mannings visit went “well” and added that Manning was not joined by his agent on the trip which implies that they didn’t discuss a contract with him.

Manning is expected to continue meeting with other teams but he has yet to line up visits with the Cardinals and Dolphins to this point.

Tim Tebow

Mark Kiszla of the Denver Post sees the Broncos dangling Tim Tebow as trade bait before they even a contract in place with Manning.

So far, Denver has made it clear that they’re willing to go all in Manning if he’s interested in playing for them even if it strains their relationship with Tebow and a faction of their fans. John Elway has mentioned that Tebow will have competition next year even if they’re unable to sign Manning.

The Jaguars seem like an interesting idea because he’s from the area and new Jag’s owner Shahid Khan previously mentioned that he would have drafted Tebow years ago had he been the owner. There was a report a few days ago that mentioned that Jaguars wouldn’t make a move for Tebow as long as Gene Smith was their GM so the idea remains purely speculative.

D.J. Williams

The Denver Post writes that there’s a “real possibility” that LB D.J. Williams could be released after receiving a six game suspension for providing a “non-human specimen” for his drug test.

Williams is set to make $5 million for the 2012 season and will be 30 at the start of the season. He’s appealing the suspension and claiming that his sample was tampered with but his time in Denver could very well be over shortly.
