Broncos Sign DE/OLB Shaun Phillips

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Denver Broncos are signing OLB Shaun Phillips.

Phillips, 31, receives a one-year contract for Denver and figures to compete for the team’s starting defensive ends spot across from Von Miller. Phillips has spent his entire nine-year career in San Diego, but apparently was no longer a part of the team’s future plans. It’s worth noting that Phillips registered 9.5 sacks for San Diego last season.

Phillips was rumored to be an option for teams like the Browns, Cardinals, Falcons and Ravens, but there wasn’t a lot of serious throughout the free agent period.

We had him listed as the No. 16 player in our Best Available Free Agents list.

  1. Love this signing, honestly got almost the whole value of Dumervil (who has injury risk of his own) for a fraction of the price or commitment. Elway wins again.
