Broncos Third-Round Pick TE Jeff Heuerman Tears ACL, Out For Season

The Denver Broncos announced Saturday night that their 2015 third-round pick TE Jeff Heuerman sustained a torn ACL in his left knee during the team’s Saturday rookie camp practice.

I feel terrible for Jeff and this is a very unfortunate situation,” HC Gary Kubiak said. “Jeff was going to be a big part of our team this year, and he’s still going to be a big part of our team and organization in the future.

“He’ll get well and be with us as part of this team throughout his rehabilitation.

Heuerman’s likely done for the season following this news, as only a few players have come back during the season after suffering a torn ACL during early camp workouts.

The Broncos currently have Owen Daniels, Virgil Green and James Casey as their top-three tight ends entering the season after Julius Thomas departed for a big-money contract with the Jaguars a few months ago.
