ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported earlier this morning that the Broncos are expected to wait until the offseason before working out a contract extensions for receivers Demaryius Thomas and Julius Thomas.
There hasn’t been any reported progress towards a long-term deals for either player, so this news shouldn’t come as a big surprise.
It would probably make sense for Demaryius to wait until the Cowboys address WR Dez Bryant before getting seriously involved in contract negotiations.
Previous reports mentioned that Julius Thomas and his agent have reportedly exchanged contract proposals with the Broncos, but talks appear to have been tabled since then.
Demaryius, 26, is clearly one of the best receivers in the game and has earned a sizable raise from the Broncos. He’ll make $3.275 million during the final year of his rookie contract. Over the course of six games, Thomas has caught 39 passes for 662 yards receiving and six touchdowns.
Julius, 25, put up an incredible season last year and his continued his strong play in 2014. Thomas has caught 28 passes for 304 yards receiving and nine touchdowns over the course of six games.
