Broncos Trade Veteran C Manny Ramirez To Lions In Move Up For OB Shane Ray

The Lions acquired veteran C Manny Ramirez along with picks No. 28, 143 and a 2016 fifth-rounder from the Broncos for their No. 23 overall selection.

The Broncos used the pick on OLB Shane Ray, who was considered by many to be a Top 10 talent before he was arrested earlier in the week and given a citation for marijuana possession.

Detroit will likely use Ramirez as depth behind last year’s third-round pick Travis Swanson, who could open training camp as the team’s starter.

Ramirez, 32, has one year remaining on his three-year, $3.965 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $1.4 million for the upcoming season.

Last year, Ramirez appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 28 center out of 41 qualifying players.
