Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas Appears To Be Headed For Franchise Tag

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, citing league sources, reports that Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas is likely to be franchised after the 2014 season.

According to La Canfora, contract negotiations between the Broncos and Thomas have been “amicable and far less event-filled.” Denver has reportedly broken off talks with Demaryius and Julius Thomas and intend to pick up negotiations during the offseason.

La Canfora expects Julius to be the cheaper of the two and even mentions that Saints TE Jimmy Graham losing his grievance case could lead to Thomas signing a more reasonable long-term deal, despite his incredible production.

Demaryius, 26, is clearly one of the best receivers in the game and has earned a sizable raise from the Broncos. He’ll make $3.275 million during the final year of his rookie contract.

Over the course of nine games, Thomas has caught 65 passes for 1,002 yards receiving and six touchdowns. We have both Broncos’ free agents listed in our Top 25 –  2015 Free Agents list.
