Brooks Reed Unlikely To Be Back With The Texans?

The agent for Texans free agent OLB Brooks Reed said that it appears as though he client will not be back in Houston next year.

From the looks of things there’s a good chance Brooks will not be back with the Texans,” Kenneth Zuckerman said, per Mark Berman.

Reed, 28, will be an unrestricted free agent in the coming days and all signs have been that he would test the open market this offseason, so this news shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

Tony Pauline of Draftinsider.net previously mentioned that the Jets could target Reed in free agency, due to new GM Mike Maccagnan’s familiarity with him.

Houston used a second round pick on Reed back in 2011, but they’ve used high picks on guys like Jadeveon Clowney and Whitney Mercilus since then.

In 2014, Reed recorded 41 tackles, two sacks, an interception, and four pass defenses for the Texans. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 26 outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense out of 46 qualifying players.

We have Reed listed as the No. 68 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
