Browns Almost Certain To Replace HC Pat Shurmur

According to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, “any chance of coach Pat Shurmur returning next season is likely gone” now that the Browns have secured their fifth straight losing season under the direction of Mike Holmgren.

New owner Jimmy Haslam and CEO Joe Banner will almost certainly begin the process of overhauling the franchise in the next few weeks and there doesn’t appear to be any indication that they’re even consider bringing back Shurmur next season. The Browns lack talent and depth at a number of positions and there’s definitely questions regarding Shurmur’s play calling, so a fresh start just makes sense for the franchise.

Andy Reid‘s name has come up as a possible replacement given his ties to Banner.
