Browns Claim DE/OLB Jackson Jeffcoat Off Waivers From Redskins

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Browns have claimed DE/OLB Jackson Jeffcoat off of waivers from the Redskins on Friday.

Washington officially waived Jeffcoat on Thursday, so it didn’t take long for him to find a new home.

Jeffcoat, 25, originally signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Texas back in May of last year. However, he was cut at the start of the 2014 season before later signing on to the Redskins’ practice squad at the start of the year.

Jeffcoat is in the final year of his three-year, $1.53 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $600,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Jeffcoat appeared in six games and recorded four tackles and a forced fumble for Washington. His season ended with him being placed on injured reserve in November.
