Browns Claim RB Robert Turbin Off Waivers From Seahawks

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Browns have claimed RB Robert Turbin off of waivers from the Seahawks on Thursday.

  • According to Schefter, Turbin is still recovering from ankle sprain, but should be ready in a few weeks.

This explains the Browns’ decision to waive WR Terrelle Pryor this afternoon.

Seattle waived/injured Turbin last week, and later placed him on season-ending injured reserve after he cleared waivers. However, they released Turbin from their injured reserve list on Wednesday with an injury settlement.

There was talk in the past few days that the Browns could sign former Broncos RB Montee Ball to a contract, but it appears as though they would prefer to wait for Turbin to get healthy.

Turbin, 25, is in the final year of his four-year, $2,556,456 rookie contract that included a $456,456 signing bonus. He stands to make a base salary of $660,000 for the 2015 season.

Last year, Turbin appeared in all 16 games for the Seahawks and ran for 310 yards on 74 carries (4.2 YPC) to go along with 16 receptions for 186 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
