Browns Not Interested In WR Santonio Holmes, Despite Report

Update:

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer is “hearing” that the Browns are not interested in free agent WR Santonio Holmes, despite the report from Tuesday.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported earlier in the day that the Cleveland Browns have also show interest in free agent WR Santonio Holmes.

This comes after ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Chicago Bears worked out Holmes and fellow receiver Ben Obomanu on Tuesday.

It’s worth mentioning that the Bears signed a receiver Tuesday night, so they may no longer be interested in Holmes.

According Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Browns are bracing themselves for “at least” an eight-game suspension for WR Josh Gordon, so they could clearly use some depth at receiver.

Cleveland could wait until there’s a ruling regarding Gordon’s appeal before signing someone like Holmes.

Last year, Holmes caught 23 passes for 456 yards receiving and a touchdown over the course of 11 games. We have Holmes listed as the No. 4 player in our recently updated Best Available Free Agents list.
