Browns Hiring Clyde Simmons As Defensive Line Coach

Alex Marvez of the Sporting News reports that the Browns are hiring former Eagles DL Clyde Simmons to coach their defensive line next season.

Simmons, 52, is a former two-time Pro Bowl and All-Pro for the Eagles back in the early 1990s. He played for five teams over the course of his 15-year NFL career and finished with 914 tackles, 121.5 sacks, 25 forced fumbles, 14 recoveries, three interceptions, and four defensive touchdowns.

Simmons began his NFL coaching career with the Rams back in 2012 and has spent the past five years working as the team’s assistant defensive line coach.

The Rams have had one of the more impressive defensive line units in the NFL for the past few years, so it will be interesting to see what Simmons is able to do for the Browns’ defensive line.
