Browns Sign K Billy Cundiff

Alex Marvez reports that the Browns have reached an agreement with K Billy Cundiff.

Cleveland’s original plan was to bring in Cundiff and Dan Carpenter for a competition on Tuesday, but Buffalo prevent Carpenter from attending by signing him to a one-year deal.

Cundiff was probably their best option at this point in time, especially after they released Shayne Graham and Brandon Bogotay earlier in the week.

Scott Petrak reports that the Browns will work out free agent K Dan Carpenter on Tuesday.

  • Mary Kay Cabot reports that Billy Cundiff will also be in attendance tomorrow for the Browns competition.

Petrak adds that Cleveland will also bring in some other free agent kickers to compete with Carpenter who recently released by the Jets.

The Browns surprisingly parted with Shayne Graham and Brandon Bogotay on Saturday, which left them without a kicker on their 53-man roster. Cleveland allowed Phil Dawson to leave during free agency, so this could be a move they regret in hindsight.
