Browns Host QBs Jimmy Garoppolo & Connor Shaw On Friday

Mary Kay Cabot reports that the Browns met with Eastern Illinois QB Jimmy Garoppolo and South Carolina QB Connor Shaw on Friday.

  • Cabot adds that Shaw will workout for the Browns on Saturday.

The Browns are obviously casting a wide net when it comes to quarterback prospects. As of now, they have already met with:

  • Blake Bortles (UCF)
  • Teddy Bridgewater (Louisville)
  • Derek Carr (Fresno State)
  • Jimmy Garoppolo (Eastern Illinois)
  • Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M)
  • A.J. McCarron (Alabama)
  • Stephen Morris (Miami)
  • Aaron Murray (Georgia)
  • Tom Savage (Pittsburgh)

It appears as though many expect Cleveland to take a quarterback at No. 26 overall. However, this creates an obvious point for other teams to move up ahead of them to select the best available quarterback prospect.

Garoppolo is widely projected to be chosen on day two of the NFL Draft.  He has a good arm, and excellent vision, touch and accuracy on short and intermediate throws.

Garoppolo threw for a staggering 5,050 yards as a senior in Eastern Illinois’s pass-happy offense.  He tallied 53 touchdowns against only 9 interceptions.

Last year, Shaw completed 63.4 percent of his passes for 2,447 yards, 24 touchdowns and one interception while contributing 558 yards rushing.

We have Garoppolo going to the Raiders in second round of our brand new 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
