Browns In Contract Discussions With RB Peyton Hillis?

Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that “the wheels have begun turning for talks about a new contract for Hillis.”

Cleveland obviously has no shortage of cap room as they’re sitting $18 million underneath the current salary cap. Hillis’s current salary pays him $555,000 so a raise is in order.

Now the question becomes what is he actually worth considering that he’s coming off of his only productive season in the NFL and has had some injuries trouble in the past.

Hillis was asked about whether or not he interested in signing a longterm deal with the Browns.

Most definitely. I think this team, this city, even the colors, represent who I am. As an individual, as a person and as a player,” Hillis said. “So I would love to be here as long the Browns want me here.”
