Browns LB Chris Gocong Out for the Season With A Ruptured Achilles Tendon

Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports that LB Chris Gocongruptured his right Achilles tendon & will have surgery,” and “he’ll be out for the season.

With LB Scott Fujita suspended Gocong was likely going to have to step up his game and help be a key component on the Browns defense.  This is obviously a serious blow to the Browns defense.

Reports coming out of Cleveland regarding Browns LB Chris Gocong are not good.  According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer, Gocong may have ruptured his achilles tendon during this morning in practice.

Gocong, while defending a touchdown pass in practice, grabbed his lower leg in the endzone then knelt down before laying on his back while succumbing to the pain. There was no contact with another player. The Browns suffer their first major setback seeing as how an injury like this isn’t good news and it is very probable that Gocong, who was traded by the Eagles in 2010, is done for the season before it even started.
