Browns HC Hue Jackson announced Monday that LB Jamie Collins is out for the season with a torn MCL.

You can expect the Browns to place him on injured reserve in the coming days and add someone to their roster.

Collins, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Patriots back in 2013. The Patriots surprisingly traded him to the Browns for a conditional 2018 fourth-round pick that can become a 2017 third-round compensatory pick.

The Browns signed him to a four-year, $50 million contract that contained $26 million guaranteed and a $5 million signing bonus back in late January. He stands to make base salaries of $10.65 million (2018), $10 million (2019) and $12 million (2020).

In 2017, Collins appeared in six games for the Browns and recorded 31 tackles, one sack, an interception, a forced fumble and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 82 linebacker rusher out of 86 qualifying players.
