Browns Looking To Acquire A Third First-Round Pick?

Peter King of MMQB.com reports that Browns GM Ray Farmer has inquired about trading back into the first round with “at least” one NFL team drafting in the latter portion of round one.

Kings takes this as an indication that they are at least considering the idea of jumping the Texans at No. 33 to get the best available quarterback.

Many have assumed that the Browns would use one of their two first-round picks on a quarterback. Cleveland could elect to take the best available player at No. 4 and then wait until No. 26 overall to address the quarterback position. However, this creates an incentive for teams to trade up ahead of the Browns at No. 26 for a quarterback prospect.

The Browns do have some additional draft capitol to work with this year, so it’s at least something to monitor in the days leading up Thursday’s first round.

We have the Browns taking Johnny Manziel at No. 4 overall in our recently updated 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
