Browns Now Hoping To Keep Peyton Hillis?

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that a league source has informed her that the Browns have changed their minds about Peyton Hillis and are now expected to attempt to re-sign him.

The report mentions that Hillis “worked his way back into the team’s good graces” with his performance at the end of the season. Despite the change of opinion, Cleveland is still believed to only be interested “at the right price” which was their stance earlier in the season before talks broke down.

Hillis’ poor decisions largely impacted the team’s willingness to negotiate a deal but the two sides were reportedly far apart in regards to the contract totals. At just 26, Hillis would help stabilize their running game next season but he’ll have to dramatically lower his asking price to remain in Cleveland. At least it’s a possibility now.

  1. The Cleveland Browns could learn something from MLB teams issues with Milton Bradley..A good amount of talent is there, but the maturity level just doesn’t match. If I were a GM I wouldn’t sign him to be anything more than a second back, maybe by committee and let him try to prove himself as a stable person/teammate.. That being said, I think San Fran would be a great fit if they are truly wanting to lessen Gores load and with a coach like Harbaugh maybe Hillis could rebuild on a one year deal then grab one more good contract next offseason
