Browns Pick Up DB Damarious Randall’s Fifth-Year Option

According to Albert Breer, the Browns have exercised DB Damarious Randall‘s fifth-year option for the 2019 season.

Randall’s option will cost the Browns $9,069,000 for the 2019 season. It’s worth mentioning that the fifth-year option is only guaranteed for injury and won’t prevent the two parties from working on a long-term extension in the next year or so.

Randall, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Packers back in 2015. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $7.916 million contract that included $6.401 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $1,090,381 for the 2018 season.

The Browns acquired him from the Packers earlier this offseason in exchange for QB DeShone Kizer.

In 2017, Randall appeared in 14 games for the Packers and recorded 47 tackles, four interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown, a fumble recovery and nine pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 81 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.
