Browns Place NT Phil Taylor On Season-Ending I.R.

Browns HC Mike Pettine announced Friday that they have placed DL Phil Taylor on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury, per Mary Kay Cabot.

  • According to Cabot, Taylor will undergo more surgery on his knee next week.

Cleveland was without Taylor for a number of weeks before he returned last weekend.

Taylor, 26, is in the final year of his four-year, $8,093,250 rookie contract, but the Browns exercised his fifth-year option, which means he’s under team control through the 2015 season.

The Brown will pay him a non-guaranteed base salary of $5.5 million next year, but they could always negotiate a long-term contract that would keep him in Cleveland for the foreseeable future.

This season, Taylor has appeared in five games and recorded just 10 tackles and one pass defensed. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 133 snaps.
