The Cleveland Browns announced that they’ve placed sixth-round DB Charles Gaines on injured reserve with the designation to return Monday.
Gaines was been dealing with a hamstring injury, so this will buy him the first eight weeks of the season to get fully healthy.
Gaines, 22, signed a four-year, $2,402,136 contract with the Browns that included $122,136 fully guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of $435,000 for the 2015 season.
During his three years at Louisville, Gaines recorded 57 tackles, six interceptions, a fumble recovery and 17 pass defenses.
