Browns Have Had Preliminary Extension Talks For WR Terrelle Pryor

Mary Kay CabotĀ of Cleveland.com reports that the Browns have had preliminary contract extension discussions with WR Terrelle Pryor.

Pryor previously mentioned that he has a lot of respect for HC Hue Jackson is hoping to remain with the Browns long term.

“I respect him very highly and if Hue Jackson’s here, I’d love to stay here,” Pryor said. “I want to be here if Hue’s going to be here for a while, because I know this is a building process ā€” and it’s not really. We’re right there. We’re competing with everybody, we’ve just got to put teams away and I’d like to be where Hue’s at.’

Michael LombardiĀ mentioned earlier in the week that the Browns are going to have to either sign Pryor to a ā€œbig big contractā€ or use their franchise tag, so it is clear to see that Cleveland highly values him.

For what it’s worth, the Browns currently have an estimated $48,050,201 in available cap space.

Pryor, 26, was taken by the Raiders inĀ theĀ third round of theĀ 2011Ā supplemental draft. He lasted a little over three years inĀ Oakland before he was traded to the Seahawks for aĀ seventh-round pick that ultimately became DBĀ Jonathan Dowling.

Pryor briefly played for the Chiefs and Bengals before later being claimed off of waivers by the Browns. Cleveland elected to cut him loose to make room for RBĀ Robert TurbinĀ last year before bringing him back.

The Browns signed him to a one-year, $1.67 million restricted deal this past March, which means heā€™ll be an unrestricted free agent next year.

So far this season, Pryor has appeared in six games and caught 33 passes for 413 yards receiving and three touchdowns to go along with 21 yards rushing and a touchdown. Pro Football FocusĀ has him rated as the No. 22 wide receiver out of 108 qualifying players.
