Browns Prepared To Allow RB Peyton Hillis Test The Open Market?

Cleveland Browns GM Tom Heckert mentioned that they most likely allow RB Peyton Hillis to test the open market, per Mary Kay Cabot.

The Browns are still interested in retaining Hillis but see what’s available to him in free agency could help to lower his asking price a bit depending on the level of interest in his services.

Cleveland has to be considering all available options when it comes to the running back position. Hillis was an amazing asset two years ago and he did play much better down the stretch for them last season, but his injury concerns and running style makes him more of a role player rather than an every-down back. The Browns are obviously aware of Hillis’ overall ability and would prefer to compensate him for that rather than as a featured running back.

  1. look this in my opinion is a sign that the browns are going to take trent richardson in the 1st round. it seems if your going to let your “drama queen” starting RB leave you who is basically the face of your organization your most likely going for another future star Mr. trent richardson. but still there is that small possibliltiy that hillis could stay in cleveland. if not i think several teams might be interested in hillis i actually think he could be a steal to whichever team picks him due to some of the drama he caused this past season, he may be dramatic but that doesn’t stop him from making TDs. i wouldnt mind if the bucs put in an offer to hillis for a RB to test Blount or even take Blounts starting spot
